The Legacy

The Florence Legacy was founded with the idea of honoring the fiber arts legacy of my grandmother, Florence Todd Thomas. Being a professionally trained, talented artist, her work was intricately handcrafted including many tapestries that were handed down to her grandchildren. That legacy encouraged me to hone my craft in areas of sewing, knitting, embroidery, and other fiber arts disciplines. Honoring the generations of the past while inspiring the generations of the future encompasses my passion to create The Florence Legacy. My desire is to continue the heritage of grandmother by creating pieces that are life-giving to you, your family, and your home.

I discovered my fervor for sewing, knitting, embroidery and weaving at an early age with a little help from my parents and grandparents. Watching both grandmothers practice fiber art in their own way as well as their support for my fiber art interests allowed my creativity to flow and skill level to develop.

Since then I’ve taken on many challenging projects, working to match my skill in the craft with my love for it. My more than 20 years of experience as a professional seamstress in apparel design, fiber art, home decor, and more has afforded me unique technical expertise and an open mindedness to seek new techniques and styles. Honoring the generations of the past while inspiring the generations of the future encompasses the reason why I create fiber art.

I believe my clients deserve beautiful spaces. I value the trust they’ve put in me to create the pieces they’ve always wanted.
